Russo Stone Design, LLC. Limited

Warranty & Customer Acknowledgements

Effective Date: Date of Installation

Russo Stone Design, LLC. (RSD) provides this limited warranty to the original purchaser of stone countertops templated, fabricated, and installed by RSD at the location specified in the original sales contract. This warranty is non-transferable and is valid for a period of one (1) year from the date of installation.

1. Material Selection & Characteristics

  • Customer Responsibility: The customer is required to hand-select and approve all natural stone slabs (e.g., granite, marble, quartzite, etc.) prior to fabrication. Each natural stone slab is unique, with inherent variations in color, pattern, and texture.

  • Natural Variations: Natural stone is a product of nature and may contain geological characteristics such as fissures, voids, pits, mineral inclusions, and veining. While RSD makes every effort to minimize these in the fabrication process, they are not considered defects in the material or our workmanship.

  • Engineered Stone (Quartz): Engineered stone products are man-made and subject to manufacturer-specific warranties. They may also have slight variations in pattern and color.

  • Etching & Staining: Certain materials, particularly marbles and some limestones, are more porous and prone to etching and staining from acidic foods or liquids. The customer acknowledges and accepts these characteristics. RSD is not responsible for any etching or staining that occurs after installation.

  • No Refunds: Once the customer has approved the material and fabrication has begun, there will be no refunds or returns on the stone.

2. Our Scope of Work & Warranty Coverage

This limited warranty covers defects in the workmanship of the template, fabrication, and installation performed by Russo Stone Design, LLC. We will, at our sole discretion, repair or replace any part of the installation that RSD determines has failed due to a defect in our workmanship.

  • Seam Integrity: RSD warrants that seams will be joined correctly and will remain structurally sound for the warranty period.

  • Proper Countertop Support: We warrant that the countertops will be installed with appropriate support, provided the underlying cabinets and structure are level and sound.

  • Sink Installation: RSD warrants that all under-mount sinks installed by our team will be properly secured to the underside of the countertop.

3. Exclusions & Customer Responsibilities

This warranty explicitly excludes issues related to the stone material itself. It also does NOT cover:

  • Manufacturer Warranties: Any warranty on the material itself is provided by the stone slab supplier or manufacturer.

  • Damage from Use: Damage caused by the owner or a third party, including chips, scratches, stains, etching, or damage from excessive weight, impact, or thermal shock (e.g., placing a hot pan directly on the surface).

  • Staining and Stain Removal: The warranty does not cover any type of staining (food, liquid, chemical, oil-based, etc.) that occurs after installation, nor does it cover the costs for any stain removal services, including those performed by RSD or a third party.

  • Structural Issues: Any damage resulting from the shifting, settling, or movement of the home, cabinets, or underlying structure, which can cause seam separation, cracking, or misalignment.

  • Lack of Maintenance: Damage or issues caused by the failure to follow proper care and maintenance guidelines, including the periodic sealing of natural stone.

  • Third-Party Work: Any work, repairs, or alterations to the countertops performed by anyone other than an authorized RSD representative.

  • Incidental Damage: RSD will make every effort to protect the surrounding area during installation, but we are not responsible for minor scuffs, scrapes, or scratches to walls, drywall, or cabinets.

  • Plumbing & Electrical: This warranty does not cover any costs for plumbing, electrical work, or other services required to remove or replace the countertop.

  • Overhangs: Any overhang exceeding 12 inches may require additional support provided by the customer or a third party, unless a change order is signed with RSD for this work.

  • Caulking: Our installers will only caulk stone-to-stone connections. We are not responsible for caulking between the backsplash and the wall, as this area is typically finished by a painter.

  • Unpaid Balances: This warranty is null and void unless the product and services have been paid for in full.

4. Templating & Installation Terms

  • Job Site Readiness: The customer is responsible for ensuring the job site is fully prepared for templating and installation. All sinks, faucets, appliances, and cooktops must be on site for accurate measurements.

  • Laser Templating: Our standard practice is laser templating. A physical template may be requested at an additional charge.

  • Layout Approval: Once the template information is finalized, a detailed layout will be sent to the customer for final approval. Fabrication will not begin until we receive written confirmation. No refunds or returns are possible after this point.

  • Access: Standard installation assumes adequate access to the property for unloading stone within 15 feet of the entry point. Additional charges may apply for difficult access.
